Scar Tissue

At Encourage Movement, treating scar tissue in the pelvic and abdominal region, including C-section and peroneal scar tissue, plays a big part in Women’s Health Care.

Undoubtedly, any surgery in the abdominal and pelvis region will impact the fascia tissue, nerves, proprioceptors, lymphatic system, and muscles, including the pelvic floor, abdominal and lower back muscles, furthermore hip muscles, diaphragm and ribcage movement.

The restriction can partially or completely inhibit the mobility of the organs in this area.

Scar tissue creates a permanent state of mechanical irritation by forcing tissue to rub against each other. The innervation around the scar tissue can be affected. This may produce localised and generalised spasms, which can cause discomfort, super-sensitivity or even pain in the tissue.

Scar tissue causes stiffness and a decrease in elasticity. The tissue becomes thick, less playable and more prone to tear.
Furthermore, the surgery disturbs the pelvic pressure, affecting the abdominal stability and mobility in the pelvis and the whole body!!

All systems must work together to avoid pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) and musculoskeletal problems.
Benefits Of Working On Scar Tissue
Stimulation of cellular activity (fibroblast) and breaking down restriction in the tissue
Improve blood flow to the area, promoting tissue remodelling
Increase scar pliability
It helps regain sensation in the area
Flattens the scar reading their visibility
Moves excess fluid to reduce swelling.
