Pain Relief
Effective for chronic pain, such as back, neck, and joint pain.
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese therapy that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body, called trigger points. It aims to stimulate natural healing and promote healing and well-being.
Medical acupuncture is based on both traditional Chinese medicine and modern scientific understanding. Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a method to balance the body’s energy flow, known as Qi (pronounced “chee”), which travels through pathways called meridians. When Qi is blocked or imbalanced, illness or pain occurs. Acupuncture aims to restore this balance by stimulating specific points on the body.
Modern theories suggest that medical acupuncture works by stimulating the central nervous system. This stimulation triggers the release of chemicals such as endorphins, which are natural painkillers, and neurotransmitters, which influence nerve impulses. These changes can enhance the body’s natural healing processes and promote physical and emotional well-being.
During an acupuncture session at Encouragement Movement, our trained acupuncturist (Zaneta Kwiecien) will use extremely thin, sterile needles to stimulate specific points, called trigger points, in your body. Here’s what you can expect:
The number of needles used can vary, typically ranging from 5 to 20 per session. The treatment duration and frequency depend on the individual’s condition and response to the therapy.
This straightforward, evidence-based approach to acupuncture ensures that patients at Encouragement Movement receive safe and effective treatments tailored to their specific health needs.
