Scar Tissue Management

Scar tissue is connective tissue with an excess of collagen. Collagen is present throughout your body and gives your tissues extra strength (great post-injury), but it can limit movement when there is too much of it, as is the case with a scar.

What makes a scar?

Scar tissue, whether from injury, surgery, or repetitive motion, replaces the regular fibrous connective tissue that is now damaged. Additionally, scar tissue is tough and not as functional or elastic as the original tissue, creating limited circulation, move-ment, or even sensation in an area.
Scars can have a lasting effect, and actively impact the fascia, as well as new inju-ries and their recovery. The fascia is a layer that penetrates, surrounds, and protects the muscles, tendons, nerves, blood vessels, and organs. When a scar occurs, it is important to understand that it has a link, and may impact/limit other regions to the body as well
Common scars that can have a strong impact on your body:
Abdominal scars (open & even laparoscopic)
Post-operative scar tissue on knees, back, shoulder etc
Carpal tunnel surgery scar (palm)
Post-traumatic scar
Strain/ sprain injury scar tissue
External cut/ abrasion
Mastectomy/ cancer surgery scars

Benefits of Scar Tissue Treatment

This is just placeholder text. Don’t be alarmed, this is just here to fill up space since your finalized copy isn’t ready yet.

Improved Blood Flow

Enhanced blood flow aids in tissue remodelling, making the scar tissue more pliable and less rigid, facilitating a smoother healing process.

Cellular Activity Stimulation

This helps break down tissue restrictions and promotes the formation of healthy tissue.

Sensory Recovery

Scar tissue treatments can help relieve the sensation in the affected area. This is particularly beneficial in reducing numbness or hypersensitivity around the scar, aiding in better sensory recovery.

Scar Appearance

These treatments encourage the realignment of collagen fibres, making the scar less noticeable and more aesthetically pleasing.

Fluid Reduction
