Osteopathy & Musculoskeletal Care

Understanding pain. Improving movement. Supporting recovery.

Osteopathy at Encourage Movement is an individualised, hands-on approach to assessing and managing musculoskeletal pain, injury and movement difficulties.

I look beyond the area where you feel pain to understand how your movement, physical activity, previous injuries and everyday demands may be contributing to your symptoms.

Drawing on my background in osteopathy, sports rehabilitation, physiotherapy and Applied Functional Science, I combine clinical assessment and appropriate hands-on treatment with movement-based rehabilitation where needed.

The aim is to help you understand your symptoms, move with greater confidence and work towards the activities that matter to you.

What I Can Help With

I work with people experiencing a range of musculoskeletal concerns, including:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Shoulder, elbow and arm problems
  • Hip and pelvic discomfort
  • Knee and leg pain
  • Ankle and foot problems
  • Sports and activity-related injuries
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Persistent or recuring musculoskeletal problems
  • Joint stiffness and  restricted movement
  • Discomfort associated with changes in activity, exercise or training

Assessment

Your first appointment begins with a detailed discussion of your symptoms, relevant medical history, previous injuries, daily activities and goals. Where appropriate, this is followed by a physical and movement assessment.

I will explain my findings, discuss the factors that may be contributing to your symptoms and work with you to agree on an appropriate plan.

Treatment

Your treatment will depend on your symptoms, assessment findings and individual needs. Where appropriate, it may include hands-on osteopathic techniques, soft-tissue treatment, medical acupuncture and mobility work.

I will explain the options available and discuss them with you before proceeding. Treatment is tailored to you rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

Rehabilitation & Movement

Hands-on treatment may be one part of your recovery. Depending on your needs, movement-based rehabilitation and exercise can also help you develop strength, mobility, coordination and confidence in physical activity.

Drawing on my background in sports rehabilitation, physiotherapy and Applied Functional Science, I can incorporate progressive exercises and practical advice to support your goals, whether that means managing everyday activities, returning to exercise or progressing in your sport.

Who I Work With

I work with people of different ages and activity levels, from those managing everyday aches and persistent musculoskeletal problems to runners, cyclists, dancers and competitive athletes.

Whether your goal is to move more comfortably, return to exercise after an injury or improve your physical performance, your care will be guided by your individual needs and goals.
